Singapore, a small city-state with a land area of just 721 square kilometres, has to support a wide range of uses from commercial, transportation and utilities to greenery, reservoirs and ports. As such, its planners actively look for innovative ways to improve planning. One key approach is to leverage digital technology to help planners gain deeper insights, and plan in a more precise manner in order to cater to the needs of the population.
Infrastructure Asia (IA), Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) and GeoWorks will be exhibiting applications of digital solutions for infrastructure in the Belt and Road Summit 2019 organised by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC). The exhibition will share with international business leaders and government officials, how digital technologies can help cities make informed planning and policy decisions.
URA has developed digital planning tools such as ePlanner, a one-stop geospatial tool to simplify GIS and data analytics for planners; GEMMA (GIS Enabled Mapping, Modelling and Analysis), a collaborative tool for integrated land-use planning and simulation; and uSys (Urban Systems Dashboard), a single platform to allow the tracking of all upcoming land and infrastructure developments. GeoWorks have also focused its city solutions through geospatial technologies to ensure the provision of reliable, timely and accurate location-based information and services to the public.
Strong partnerships and collaborations also help city planners to obtain a better understanding of the ground and maintain a good sense of what business need, and how these needs are changing. For example, the OneMap application developed by GeoWorks, facilitates public and private partnerships through the sharing of spatial content provided by multiple government agencies. Its users can leverage on its base maps to create new location-based applications with their own data using OneMap’s Application Programming Interface. URA Space, a one-stop platform for e-services the agency offers, enables the industry and the general public to access essential planning information, data and map services more easily.

Infrastructure Asia was established to support regional government to better develop, finance and execute their infrastructure projects. By showcasing Singapore’s experience and capabilities in urban planning at the Belt & Road Summit platform, we hope to connect international audiences to our companies and institutions to create more liveable and sustainable cities through continuous innovations such as leveraging on our human capital and digitalisation journey.”
The exhibition will run from 11 to 12 September 2019 at Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Center.

About Singapore Land Authority
Singapore Land Authority (SLA) is a statutory board with the Ministry of Law. Its mission is to optimise land resources for the social and economic development of Singapore.
